Boise School District
Educational Audiology
The Boise School District is one of the only districts in Idaho to staff a full time educational audiologist. Services are available for students of all ages enrolled in the Boise School District. Services are initiated through a referral process by the neighborhood school. Clinical services are provided at Amity Elementary. Services are also available at all District-wide schools as necessary.
Services include:
· Oversight and participation in district-wide identification/prevention programs, including hearing screening,
· Provision of comprehensive hearing and auditory processing evaluations,
· Consideration and support of personal listening devices in the educational setting,
· Support educational management through IEP and 504 for students with hearing loss and/or auditory processing deficits,
· Troubleshooting and minor repair of personal amplification,
· Inservice of staff regarding a student’s hearing abilities and needed accommodation(s),
· Education of students in the Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing about hearing loss, encouraging self-advocacy,
· Collaboration with outside agencies and professionals, including fitting audiologists and medical providers.
